Casey is tied up in knots about rope idea

10:30 - 28 September 2007

A Sutton entrepreneur - who faced the panel of BBC1's Dragon's Den earlier this year - is proving his latest business venture is far from money for old rope.

Casey Jones was last seen on our screens waving a cheese-encrusted shoe under the noses of Duncan Bannatyne and the other Dragons as he demonstrated his Klenz Sanitiser - a high-tech microwave-like device that kills germs and odours on anything placed inside it without using chemicals, heat or liquid. He persuaded two of the panel members to invest £100,000 in his business, but now has come up with a new money spinner - the Nuptial Knot.

"We all know the phrase 'tying the knot' but few of us know its origins," Casey said.

"The custom dates back to the Middle Ages where a knot was tied during the wedding ceremony, as it was believed that it would have a positive influence on the marriage and brings good luck.

" I thought that it would be fantastic if we could offer people a little escape from all the commercialism and hark back to an original traditional ritual to help make their special day even more memorable and, if the legends are to be believed, perhaps give them a little luck too."

The Nuptial Knot comes in a wooden box with an engraved plaque showing the happy couple's names.

And it is already proving a success with Casey now in negotiations with a number of major high street stores and wedding specialists. "We have been getting great feedback from couples and surprisingly its being bought not just by traditional bride and grooms but also for civil partnerships and even as wedding presents.

"The demand has been more than we ever expected at this stage."

Dragon slayer strikes gold. Again!

Dragons Den winner Casey Jones has come up trumps again and is set to storm the UK Wedding market with his latest brilliant innovation.

The Midlands entrepreneur, and managing director of Inventors Showcase who last year wowed investors to secure a £100,000 investment on the BBC TV show Dragons Den is yet again proving he has a keen eye for the next big thing.

This week Inventors Showcase launched The Nuptial Knot. A fantastic idea that will make any Wedding ceremony unique and instantly memorable. We all know the phrase "tying the knot" but few of us know its origins. The custom actually dates back to the Middle Ages where a knot was tied during the wedding ceremony, as it was believed that it would have a positive influence on the marriage and brings good luck. Over the years this ancient tradition had been almost forgotten but a recent resurgence in the USA has led Casey Jones to believe that the UK is next for a modern day revival of this beautiful medieval tradition.

Casey Jones commented " With Weddings becoming more like strategic operations and even the simplest of things costing hundreds of pounds I thought that it would be fantastic if we could offer people a little escape from all the commercialism and hark back to an original traditional ritual to help make their special day even more memorable and if the legends are to be believed, perhaps give them a little luck too!"

Due to the initial success of the Nuptial Knot Casey is now in negotiations with a number of major high street stores and wedding specialists. "I can't say too much about who we are talking to at present but I can tell you that the Nuptial Knot looks to be the next big thing for UK weddings. We have been getting great feedback from couples and surprisingly its being bought not just by traditional bride and grooms but also for civil partnerships and even as wedding presents. The demand has been more than we ever expected at this stage and all signs show that it's likely to increase."

If you can't wait to get one in the shops you can order your own special knot online at http://www.nuptialknot.co.uk the Nuptial Knot comes in it's own beautiful wooden box just as it would have years ago only with the modern update of an engraved plaque showing the happy couples names.
